Stephanie Busch-Abbate, D.D.S., F.A.G.D

Dr. Stephanie Busch-Abbate is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and Kalamazoo College. Throughout her life she has had exposure to dentistry as her father, Dr. Paul Busch, established Gentle Dentistry in the 1970’s. In 2009, she joined our practice and in 2012, she became the owner of Gentle Dentistry. Dr. Busch-Abbate enjoys treating patients of all ages. As a Kalamazoo native, she is proud to serve her hometown community. Patients appreciate her caring nature and passion for dentistry. She has achieved a Fellowship award with the Academy of General Dentistry for her commitment to staying up –to-date in the profession through continuing education. Her additional training includes education with Progressive Orthodontics, Spears, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry. She is a member amongst several professional organizations and study clubs including: Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society, Bunting Periodontal Society, Spears Education, etc. Outside the office Dr. Busch-Abbate enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her firefighter husband, Nicholas Abbate, and their two pugs.

Paul Busch, D.D.S.
Kalamazoo, MI Dentist
Dr. Paul Busch completed his undergraduate work at Ferris State University and graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1964. After Dental School, he served as a dental Officer for the United States Navy at the Great Lakes Naval Base and aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise Aircraft Carrier, during the Vietnam War. He established his Kalamazoo practice in 1967. In 1979 he built the previous home of Gentle Dentistry at 530 Nichols Rd. Kalamazoo, MI.
Dr. Busch believes continuing education is always a key component to a successful practice. He has been involved in a wide variety of continuing education courses over the years, but of special interest to him are those designed for current state of the art high tech technology such as: Dental Lasers, Orthodontics, and TMJ. Dr. Busch has completed curriculum in all areas of his special interest. Currently Dr. Paul Busch is working on a limited basis and enjoying a retired lifestyle; well deserved!

Kelly F, R.D.H.
Kelly is a graduate of the Dental Hygiene Department at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She has been with our practice since 1998. She is very caring and many patients have commented on how gentle and thorough she is while cleaning their teeth. Her concern is apparent when educating patients on their oral health and proper home care. She is certified in Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide Administration.

Chantel graduated from the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Dental Hygiene program with Honors. She is also certified in Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide Administration. Chantel joined our practice in 2010. Our patients appreciate her commitment and passion to improve and maintain their oral health. Her enthusiasm to help others is evident in the care she provides. Her positive attitude and smile is infectious to others. When not taking care of her patients, Chantel loves spending time with her family, friends and enjoying the outdoors.

Essie graduated as a dental assistant from Grand Rapids Educational Center Dental Assisting Program in December of 1997. She worked as a dental assistant in Sturgis and moved to the area in February of 2008. She joined our practice in May of 2008 and has been a great asset to our office.

LeAnn started her dental career in Colorado, upon moving back to her hometown in 2014, she joined our practice. She is certified in Radiography and enjoys furthering her knowledge in continuing education courses. You will find LeAnn with a smile and positive attitude, ready to help you feel comfortable throughout your visit. Outside of work, you will find her spending time with her family, reading a good book or enjoying Michigan summers. LeAnn completed her Advanced Dental Certification Exam in May 2016, and we could not be more proud of her! Further certifications LeAnn has earned are in Digital Dentistry, both scanning and design.

Trina has joined our practice as Treatment Plan and Insurance Coordinator. She has relocated back to the area after having 10 years experience working as an account coordinator for a dental practice in Big Rapids, MI. She is very knowledgeable with insurance plans and strives to assist patients in understanding their insurance coverage and benefits. Trina enjoys welcoming new patients to the practice and assists in scheduling treatment needs for patients.

Maggie has been in dentistry since 1999 and is knowledgeable in all aspects of dental business administration. She is excited each day to bring her expertise as a treatment plan and financial coordinator. You will always find her with a smile on her face and positive attitude eager to assist patients. While not working, she enjoys spending time with her amazing husband and four busy children.

Amie began her career in dentistry in 2010. She joined our practice in 2016 as a part-time dental assistant. Amie has earned certifications with Digital Dentistry both scanning and design. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially making patients feel comfortable. Amie is known for her calm and warm nature. At home, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs.

Cat is a 1997 graduate from Western Michigan University. She has had many roles throughout her career in dentistry. Starting in 2000 she contributed as an assistant and cross trained to aid the administration team. After graduating with a degree in Dental Hygiene (2003) from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, she has practiced and educated many patients about oral hygiene and preventative care. In 2017 she made a transition from hygiene to become a scheduling and treatment plan coordinator. Her expertise and experience greatly assist our patients!

Michelle has enjoyed her role as a dental assistant since 2008 and has been with our practice throughout those years and current. She is certified in radiography and pursues continuing education. Michelle has earned certification with Digital Dentistry scanning. At times, she may help with the financial and scheduling coordinators, as she is cross trained. Everyone loves her upbeat and positive energy! Working with children is her passion. Michelle finds it rewarding to help alleviate anxiety for our patients.

Clark is a therapy dog and is a welcome addition to our team in 2016. He is here to alleviate anxiety about your dental visit or just to make you smile. Clark is a registered therapy dog and has completed a canine good citizen class. He may visit you upon request and provides our patients comfort for all procedures. Clark is part-time and is generally available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for patients of all ages. You can check him out on our facebook page as he loves to make appearances. After work, he enjoys being at home with Dr. Stephanie Busch-Abbate and her family!
